Здание появится в Иокогаме - крупнейшем портовом городе, административном центре префектуры Канагава - и выступит центром исследований "в области материалов, транспорта и здоровья". Об этом пишет японская газета Nikkei Electronics со ссылкой на информированные источники в индустрии.
Отмечается, что "фруктовая" империя планирует осуществлять в Японии наиболее передовые исследования и разработки. Проект запущен при поддержке правительства, которое "стремится развить цепочку поставщиков и придать толчок новым технологическим инновациям на фоне стагнации местной электронной промышленности".
В Apple по этому поводу дали следующий комментарий: "Мы рады расширить нашу деятельность в Японии путем формирования нового центра технической разработки в Йокогаме, который создаст множество рабочих мест".
Четырехэтажное здание будет занимать площадь в 270 000 квадратных футов (25 000 м2). Это будет крупнейший в Азии научно-исследовательский центр американской корпорации.
