Electric iCar Is For Real? "Proof is here: Apple Is Building an Electric Vehicle."

And now FT:

Apple hiring automotive experts to work in secret research lab

“Three months ago I would have said it was CarPlay,” said one person who has worked closely with Apple for many years, referring to Apple’s infotainment system. “Today I think it’s a car.” FT.

Business Insider:

"Bryan Chaffin, cofounder of Apple site The Mac Observer, says he is "certain" Apple is working on a car after talking to sources.
Chaffin was following up on our report from Monday. An Apple employee told us the company was working on something in "vehicle development" that would "give Tesla a run for its money."Chaffin reported the following:
What I learned is that Apple has been looking for—and acquiring—the kind of people from Tesla with expertise that is most suited to cars. So much so that I went from being a doubter to a believer almost instantly.
From another source who travels in more rarified circles than yours truly, I also learned that a lot of people at the top in Silicon Valley consider it a given that Apple is working on a car. This is circumstantial, at best, but if you're going to crowd-source wisdom, you could do a lot worse than polling the C-suite.
I should add that when I asked one of my sources flat out to put a percentage chance on Apple working on an actual car—rather than some kind of car-related technology—I was told, "80 percent."
When coupled with everything I've learned since, I'm personally closer to 100 percent. Business Insider."

EV Base:

"Is apple working on an electric car in their ‘super secret lab’?
Recently, Bloomberg did an excellent article about the hiring wars between Tesla and Apple. Over the last months, Tesla has recruited some of Apples finest engineers, and Apple seeks revenge.
Unconfirmed rumours from apple employees state that The project “will change the landscape and give Tesla a run for its money.”. This undisclosed employee didn’t give any other information about the project, but Business Insider noted that many of the Tesla employees that Apple hired have experience in robotics, manufacturing and mechanics.
Well, it looks like Apple is not so secretive about their ambitions anymore. From their jobs site we can easily learn that – yes – Apple is recruiting new staff with an automotive background. Foremost, and contrary to the quite clear job descriptions Apple normally has, these jobs have the following header:
Imagine what you could do here at Apple. You could help create the next generation of the world’s most finest devices. Great ideas have a way of becoming great products, services, and customer experiences very quickly. Bring passion and dedication to your career, and there’s no telling what you could accomplish.
So if you want to join Apples iCar project, you may want to apply for either one of these
In many of the job descriptions qualifications are asked that are demanding expertise in the automotive industry. Have your go with it and find the jobs here"

Is Electric iCar Finally Coming From Apple?

There are a lot of rumours flying around the silicon valley about the potential development of Apple iCar again. GM Bolt and Tesla Model III are prepping the mass market for electric cars with 200 miles range EV around $30k price tag. Foxconn - the manufacture of Apple iPhones and iPads is investing hundreds of millions into EV building facilities in China now. Apple will be in a very good company. It is the real chance the change the world, make it the better place and bring out another revolutionary product, Steve Jobs has dreamt about. Read more."

Lithium Race: BMW Building BMW i5 / i7 To Target Tesla Model S.

Our Electric Cars space is getting crowded these days and we have another great news for our industry, this time from BMW. Now we can talk about serious competition in the EVs space. It will bring better lithium technology and drive the prices of the lithium batteries down. Tesla Model III, GM Bolt and newcomers from Foxconn and Boston-Power will launch the mass market for Electric Cars.  We are very excited with all recent news at International Lithium. We are finalising our next stage exploration in Ireland and Argentina with Ganfeng Lithium now.

"The Tesla Model S remains the undisputed king of electric cars at the moment primarily because it’s the only real car that is entirely electric. But that will change soon, and BMW will be among those seeking inroads into Tesla’s empire.
Car Magazine BMW’s vector for those inroads will be badged either i5 or i7, and aimed squarely at the Model S. Using 5-Series architecture and electric propulsion, the i5/i7/or whatever it will be called should be able to mate proven luxury accommodations, excellent vehicle dynamics, and, if properly executed, a seriously competitive electric drivetrain."

Will We See Electric Car For $15k? Foxconn to Invest 5 Billion Yuan in Its Shanxi Factories.

We have very interesting report today from Bloomberg on Foxconn. It is all the same web: electric cars, China, Tesla and Apple. Will we see electric car for $15k produced by Foxconn in China after all? Today we get one step closer to this groundbreaking development for the mass market for electric cars.
China moves very fast now to fight the air pollution and ignite the next industrial revolution. This collaboration with Tesla will allow it to acquire the latest technology in electric cars space. Lithium batteries and materials are already the very important foundation for this advance being built in China right now. Read more."

Powered By Lithium: Will Foxconn Make The Electric iCar For Apple Priced Under $15,000?

Foxconn is not talking about the use of Tesla Motors patents or Apple being involved at this stage, but this is the kind of developments I am expecting to happen more and more after Elon Musk went Open Source with Electric Cars and opened Tesla patents to all. Foxconn is the largest contracts electronics maker in the world, including production of iPhones and iPads for Apple. I am not sure that we can certainly expect now that my dream -  the Electric iCar will be produced by Foxconn, but  they are the one who can make it.
They can easily outsource the particular auto-making technology and develop Electric Car for the basic urban mobility targeting megalopolises in China and India. Foxconn's strength will be the existing low cost manufacturing base and very efficient management of the supply chain. I do not expect them to produce alone the competition to Tesla Model S, but another KANDI I can expect easily. And "The Big If" - if the Apple will be involved at some stage with its cash and marketing machine, than we can talk about Steve Jobs' dream in the making:

Lithium Drive: Steve Jobs’ Apple iCar dream - Mickey Drexler: "Steve’s dream before he died was to design an iCar.”

Key to the success will be cheap, but reliable Lithium Battery with respectable range. LG Chem is very active in Asia now matching the Tesla's Gigafactory plans in their ambitions and we have the new players like Ganfeng Lithium with International Lithium coming into this promising market as well now. And here lies another twist to this story:
"Asked by the same shareholder about Hon Hai’s reported cooperation with U.S. electric car pioneer Tesla Motors Inc., Gou said he would not comment on any single client, adding only that Tesla is a good company and can help Hon Hai understand future trends in the car industry. TheChinaCap."
Everything new in this life was started with the simple question: Why Not? Can we start talking that Tesla, Apple and Foxconn Is A Match Made In Heaven To Make Electric Apple iCar Under $15k? Tesla and Apple have met after all discussing SOMETHINGbefore. Whether it was Tesla Gigafactory for potential production of Lithium Polymer Batteries for iPhones and iPads or my beloved Apple iCar my "Chinese tea leaves" are not telling me at the moment, but these three companies have everything in the world to make the mass market for Electric Cars happen overnight: Apple with its Billions of Capital, iconic brand and marketing machine, Tesla Motors with Electric Cars Lithium Technology and Foxconn with its Low Cost Manufacturing Base for mass market production and entry into the world's largest auto-market in China." Powered By Lithium: Formula E 2014. Round 1. Beijing. Race.

The Lithium Technology is here, now we need to bring the prices down with volume to ignite the mass market for electric cars. It is not the coincidence that the first race starts in Beijing.

China Welcomes Electric Cars: Tesla Motors, China Unicom Plan 400 Charging Stations.

"As I have discussed with you here before, Elon Musk is taking the largest auto-market in the world very seriously. Needless to say that this Supercharger Network will be the base for the mass market for electric cars in China. Now we are waiting for Tesla Model III coming out in 2017 with $35k price tag and 200 miles range. Tesla Gigafactory will make this development possible with better and cheaper lithium batteries. After establishing Tesla Motors brand in the luxury sector with Tesla model S and Tesla model X Elon Musk will move down the value chain into the mass market for electric cars.
Foxconn plan for the $15k electric cars is the wild card here, it remains to be seen who will be involved in its implementation, but I can tell you my personal observations already now: Electric Cars are here to stay and they are taking over the largest auto-market in the world right now like the wild fire. If you are still looking for the next Apple: Elon Musk, Electric Cars and China could be pointing out to the Next Big Thing. Read More."

Bloomberg:

By Tim Culpan

Foxconn Technology Group will invest at least 5 billion yuan ($814 million) into its factories in northern China’s Shanxi province amid the world’s largest contract electronics manufacturer’s push into electric vehicles.
Chairman Terry Gou expects the company’s Shanxi workforce to reach 100,000 this year with annual output surpassing 60 billion yuan, Taipei-based Foxconn said in a statement, citing a speech delivered by Gou in Shanxi’s Taiyuan city today. The company didn’t provide further details on the investment.
Foxconn joins companies from Tesla Motors Inc. (TSLA) to China United Network Communications Corp. that are tapping into China’s drive to boost production and usage of new-energy cars which includes electric, hybrid and fuel-cell vehicles. The government is considering providing as much as 100 billion yuan to build charging stations and has already set a target for government procurement of electric cars.
Gou has held talks with Tesla Chairman Elon Musk and Foxconn is already providing some components for the Palo Alto, California-based company’s vehicles, he said at a shareholders’ meeting in June.
“There’s some very promising potential collaboration with Foxconn,” Musk told shareholders on June 3. “We do feel that with potential alliances like Foxconn, we could potentially expand our production faster than would otherwise be the case.”
Tesla last month signed a deal with phone carrier China United Network to build 400 charging points in 120 Chinese cities.
Foxconn, founded by Guo in 1974, has been in Shanxi for a decade and has invested 20 billion yuan there to produce optical lenses, robots and precision tooling, it said in the statement. The Taiyuan campus is also host to one of its four iPhone-assembly plants, according to Apple Inc. (AAPL)’s supplier responsibility report. Bloomberg."
