TNR Gold Mariana Lithium NSR Royalty Partner: Ganfeng Lithium Adds Hyundai to Supply Agreements with Tesla, BMW and VW

We have another enormously important development for TNR Gold's royalty partner on the Marina Lithium Project, Ganfeng Lithium. The giant from China signed a 4-year supply agreement for battery materials with Huyndai. Ganfeng Lithium already supplies battery materials to a numeral of the most significant participants in the electric cars space including Tesla, BMW and VW. Hyundai is a fast-growing automaker with a range of cheaper electric cars and rapidly increasing its market share. They are targeting 30% growth for 2024 and will launch more affordable EV models soon.

"Due to the technical complexity, only the strongest Lithium companies will be able to develop new projects and achieve a significant production increase of Battery Grade Lithium. The whole industry produced only 737,000 T LCE of Lithium in 2022 and now we have to jump first to over 1 million T LCE by 2025. Ganfeng's Chairman is talking about 3 million T LCE annual demand by 2030 and Canaccord Genuity estimated that only Tesla will consume 2.7 million T LCE annually by 2030."

During the ongoing REE 2.0 Lithium price war Ganfeng is following its main strategy by using the crash in the Lithium market as an opportunity to consolidate the supply chains. The main efforts of all major players are focused on securing new production capacity for the raw materials and increasing the market share through long-term supply contracts for OEMs, automakers and, increasingly, providers of Energy Storage Solutions among other Lithium battery makers.

"According to Equal Ocean, Ganfeng Lithium "has planned to form a supply capacity of no less than 300,000 tons of LCE by 2025". "About 200,000 tons of LCE will come from the supply of its own resources".

Ganfeng Lithium is arguably one of the most active companies in the market building the Vertically Integrated Lithium Business. It built a diversified supply chain starting from the brine and hard rock sources for Lithium and advancing its ambitions with the cutting-edge technology of Lithium Solid-State Batteries.

By developing the Vertically Integrated Lithium Business Model including the production of higher-margin Lithium chemicals, battery materials and, particularly, expanding its Lithium Batteries business, Ganfeng can use its own raw material base of the Lithium supply chain to produce the higher margin products in the supply chain for electric cars.

Ganfeng's scale and technical expertise allow it to move into the higher value-added part of the supply chains while the producers of Lithium concentrate are being slaughtered by the REE 2.0 Lithium Price War.

TNR Gold is plugged into Tesla Energy rEVolution with our Royalty Holdings on the Mariana Lithium Project with Ganfeng Lithium. I consider my personal investment in TNR Gold, as a unique entry point into the state-of-the-art vertically integrated lithium business being built by Ganfeng Lithium for the 21st century.

Now TNR Gold is moving fast towards the re-rating of the market valuations for our assets. With the first cash flow coming potentially this year from Mariana Lithium the valuation for that asset will be much higher and it will be translated into a higher valuation for all our Company.

You can find on the links below the latest reports and videos from Salta, Argentina. Ganfeng Lithium is showing very rapid sustainable progress at the Mariana Lithium Project and moving it into the production stage this year.

Ganfeng Lithium inks 4-year battery material supply agreement with Hyundai

The Chinese company will be supplying the automotive manufacturer with lithium hydroxide for its electric vehicles

By Rowan Dunne

China’s Ganfeng Lithium (SHE: 002460) finalized a lithium hydroxide supply agreement with the South Korean automotive giant Hyundai Motor Company (KRX: 005380) last week.

The agreement is valid from Jan. 1 this year until the end of 2027. Ganfeng said the price of product sold to Hyundai will be determined by an agreed-upon pricing formula. The company did not disclose any specific dollar figures for the deal or other particular details.

“The annual supply volume will be executed according to the agreement, the actual purchase volume and sales amount shall be subject to the final purchase orders,” Ganfeng said.

This is not the first supply agreement Ganfeng has had with a major vehicle company. The lithium producer signed a long-term supply deal with Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW) (ETR: BMW) in 2020 and another with Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) in 2018. Volkswagen (OTC: VWAGY) buys battery materials from Ganfeng as well.

“Entering into this long-term supply agreement can satisfy Hyundai’s demands for key lithium raw materials used for production of batteries on the one hand,” Ganfeng said. “It is conducive to our company for improving its continuous profitability and facilitating its long-term growth on the other hand.”

Audi's electric car claims to cover 450km on single charge

Berlin: More than two years since abandoning electric cars, Audi has returned with the R8 e-tron, in a move that looks more like an attempt to keep its options open than a full conversion to the technology.

Battery-powered cars have failed to live up to their initial hype, with drivers put off by the slow rollout of recharging stations, limited range and high prices -- despite generous sales incentives in some markets.

By 2020, fewer than one in 20 vehicles produced is forecast to be equipped with electrified powertrains, business consultants KPMG said in a survey in January.

Audi, the flagship brand of German carmaker Volkswagen, has been reluctant to embrace the technology, arguing it was better to make diesel cars cleaner or focus on hybrids that combine a combustion engine with battery power.

It flirted with an electric R8 sports car in 2009, promising a thrilling performance but an underwhelming range of 134 miles. It wasn't enough, and Audi dropped the concept in 2012, the year rival Tesla's Model S came out with double the range.

However Tesla's success, and that of archrival BMW with its "i" series of electric cars, appears to have convinced Audi there is a market for electric supercars after all.

A fully electric R8 may also help Audi get closer to meeting rigid EU emissions limits. Audi came 18th last year in a survey of Europe's 20 top-selling brands' average CO2 output, auto industry forecaster JATO said on Tuesday.

At the Geneva auto show, Audi unveiled an emission-free version of its 165,000-euro ($184,619) R8 that can drive 450 kilometres (280 miles) before needing to recharge, which takes less than two hours.

The battery's capacity has almost doubled to 92 kilowatt-hours (kWh) from 49 kWh in the aborted 2012 model, a source close the matter said. That has helped more than double the range of the carbon-fibre R8 e-tron which surges to 100 kilometres an hour in 3.9 seconds, compared with 3.2 seconds for the 540-horsepower model.

Audi may also launch two battery-powered serial models by 2018, a sports car and a sports-activity vehicle with over 500 km of range to rival Tesla's upcoming Model X SUV, two company sources told Reuters.

Minimising the risk
However, analysts said Audi was treading cautiously, not least because it only plans to build the R8 e-tron by request.

"Such projects are no practicable means to leverage electric driving over the short term," said PwC analyst Christoph Stuermer. "They only help minimise the business risk."

Sales of the R8 e-tron probably won't exceed 100 a year through 2022, research firm IHS Automotive forecast. By comparison, IHS expects deliveries of Tesla's Model S to grow 14 percent to 41,396 cars by 2022 from 36,364 this year.

Electric supercars have a mixed track record. Mercedes stopped making the 416,000-euro SLS electric drive last year due to poor demand, while Porsche's 768,000-euro 918 Spyder hybrid sold all 918 models.

Analysts said the R8 e-tron, Audi's first all-electric production car, could act as a "halo" product to draw customers to its showrooms and help it gauge interest in more battery-powered and hybridized cars.

While Audi has incurred a three-digit million-euro cost to develop the model, there will be no fixed production costs because it will be custom-made, one company source said.

Nonetheless, Audi views the project as a step change.

"It's beyond any question" that battery cars have become more important to Audi," Chief Executive Rupert Stadler told Reuters in January. "I'm very happy that (R&D boss) Ulrich Hackenberg is stepping up the pace on electric cars."

Lithium Race: BMW Building BMW i5 / i7 To Target Tesla Model S.

Our Electric Cars space is getting crowded these days and we have another great news for our industry, this time from BMW. Now we can talk about serious competition in the EVs space. It will bring better lithium technology and drive the prices of the lithium batteries down. Tesla Model III, GM Bolt and newcomers from Foxconn and Boston-Power will launch the mass market for Electric Cars.  We are very excited with all recent news at International Lithium. We are finalising our next stage exploration in Ireland and Argentina with Ganfeng Lithium now.

"The Tesla Model S remains the undisputed king of electric cars at the moment primarily because it’s the only real car that is entirely electric. But that will change soon, and BMW will be among those seeking inroads into Tesla’s empire.
Car Magazine BMW’s vector for those inroads will be badged either i5 or i7, and aimed squarely at the Model S. Using 5-Series architecture and electric propulsion, the i5/i7/or whatever it will be called should be able to mate proven luxury accommodations, excellent vehicle dynamics, and, if properly executed, a seriously competitive electric drivetrain."

Lithium Race - Fast Lane Daily: 2015 BMW i8 Review.

We need as many electric cars as we can get. It is not an EV for the mass market by any means. But BMW i8 will be the great head-turner and BMW serious involvement with BMW i3 in electric cars is very important. Further collaboration of BMW with Tesla could be very interesting. Elon Musk's enthusiastic report on the potential cooperation was later cooled down by BMW, but you never really know what is going behind the scenes. Lithium battery and Charging technologies could be the place for cooperation and Elon Musk was even talking about the Gigafactory in Europe.

Tesla says in talks with BMW over car batteries, parts

"Nov 23 (Reuters) - U.S. electric carmaker Tesla Motors is in talks with Germany's BMW over a possible alliance in batteries and light-weight components, Tesla's Chief Executive Elon Musk told German weekly Der Spiegel.
In an interview published on Sunday, Musk described BMW's production of carbon fibre reinforced car body parts as "interesting" and "relatively cost efficient."
BMW uses carbon fibres from its joint venture with materials supplier SGL to make reinforced passenger cell parts for its i3 electric hatchback and i8 plug-in hybrid sports car.
Officials at BMW were not immediately available to comment.
"We are talking about whether we can collaborate in battery technology or charging stations," Musk was quoted as saying in the interview.
There were no further details on the specific nature of the alliance, however BMW and Tesla executives already met in June to discuss the creation of charging stations usable for different types of electric cars.
Rival Daimler, owner of the Mercedes brand, said last month it would continue to collaborate with Tesla even after selling its remaining four percent stake in the U.S. company. Tesla has also worked with Toyota on electric SUVs.
Tesla's billionaire co-founder Musk also told Der Spiegel that he expects Tesla to have a battery production plant in Germany in five to six years. (Reporting by Ludwig Burger; Editing by Clelia Oziel) Reuters."
