Dear member,
Despite prolonged attempts at finding a solution so that existing
members can remain at the club, Reignwood remain intransigent. This has
resulted in the resignation of many long standing and devoted members.
The Club is being sucked dry of its heritage.
Of the three memberships: Golf, Tennis & Health and Social, Golf
membership is the most expensive and some golfers may be natural targets
for Reignwood’s debenture. However, Wentworth has developed into a
country club and Tennis & Health is actually the largest membership
category, but pay less. Additionally, the social members comprise many
long standing and loyal members who rely on the club as their social
hub. We owe a duty to all members that they shouldn’t be abandoned.
You may well have seen the various press articles over the weekend
highlighting the issues we face. The response by the Club was in the
form of an article by Mr. Ni that we feel totally misrepresents the
views of the vast majority of Wentworth club members. The articles are
available at this link:
WHG recently carried out a survey of Wentworth members. The concept of a
debenture was rejected by 97% of respondents and Tennis & Heath members
were only willing to accept a fee increase of up to 10% for the promised
improvements to the facilities. Tennis and Health membership fees are in
line with expectations and there is no realistic prospect of this
membership category participating in a debenture. The WHG is therefore
taking a tough line with management defending this group’s interests.
The belief is that if members reject the debenture, Reignwood will have
no choice but to back down.
In the last week our Tennis and Health Captain, Kirill Klip, has been
summoned, by Club management, to a disciplinary hearing for representing
the views of the majority of members, as demonstrated loudly and clearly
in our survey. A further survey, the results of which are available on
the link below, clearly set out that members support Kirill and actually
believe it is Reignwood that has brought the club into disrepute.
Unfortunately, the legal and disciplinary threats have not yet been
withdrawn by the Club.
We would like to thank you for this fantastic show of support for Kirill
and ask that any further written support is forwarded to the following
email address:
clubmanagement@e-business.com
Please put SUPPORT KIRILL in the title of your email. Your response
will automatically be forwarded to Club management.
We are now able to confirm that an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM)
of Wentworth Club members will be held in the WC Ballroom on Tuesday
22nd March at 8pm. The purpose of the meeting will be to communicate the
progress being made in the challenges to the Club’s proposals, and to
ask the membership to vote on a series of motions that will shape our
on-going strategy. Please attend in person with your family. We need as
many members as possible to be there to express their views and send the
strongest possible message to Club management.
To help us gauge the number likely to attend the EGM please respond to
this email at the following email address:
EGM@e-business.com
Please put ATTEND EGM in the title of your email and specify the number
of family members who will attend in the body of the email.
We will provide further updates about the EGM as soon as we have them.

Kind Regards
Wentworth Heritage Group
